Second seed Petra Kvitova is through to the semi-finals of the Apia International Sydney after a straight-sets win over Lucie Safarova.
Kvitova, the former Wimbledon champion, registered the 300th victory of her career as she saw off her fellow Czech left-hander - and Fed Cup team-mate - 7-6 (7-4) 6-2.
Kvitova, the highest seed left in the competition, said: "Lucie's a good friend of mine. We know each other well on and off court because we practised a lot together in the Fed Cup team.
"So I exactly know what she can play. I knew what she will try, and I try to do my best there."
Kvitova will now face Tsvetana Pironkova in the last four after the Bulgarian stunned third seed Sara Errani.
Pironkova, who reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon back in 2010, registered 7-6 (7-2) 6-3 victory over the Italian.
