Santiago Giraldo is through to the second round of the Heineken Open after a straight-sets victory over Albert Montanes in Auckland.

American wild card Jack Sock will face second seed Tommy Haas in the next round after the 21-year-old eased through his first-round clash against Adrian Mannarino 6-3 6-4.

Argentinean Horacio Zeballos had to overcome a second-set fightback by his opponent before recording a 6-0 7-6 (7/1) win over Filippo Volandri.
