Stanislas Wawrinka enjoyed a landmark moment as he saw off Slovenia's Aljaz Bedene 6-2 6-1 to reach the semi-finals of the ATP Chennai Open.

The top-seeded Swiss' success means he's chalked up 300 victories on the ATP Tour, while also avenging an embarrassing loss to the same opponent in the quarter-finals of last year's tournament in the process.

"If I had not got to 300 this week, I would have got it next week."

In triumphing in just over an hour Wawrinka follows in the footsteps of compatriots Roger Federer, Marc Rosset and Jakob Hlasek in reaching the milestone.

"I knew before the match that I was approaching this mark, but that did not put me under any pressure," he said. "If I had not got to 300 this week, I would have got it next week.

"I was just focused on playing well and I think I did that. To win in an hour against a good player is not easy. I am happy with my game, I think I am serving and returning well."

Brushed aside

Next up for Wawrinka will be Vasek Pospisil, the Canadian fifth seed having brushed aside Indian Yuki Bhambri 6-3 6-3 in an hour and 10 minutes.

"Wawrinka is a top 10 player, so obviously I will have my hands full," the 23-year-old, ranked 32nd in the world, said of his next opponent.

"I will need to play my best tennis if I have to give myself a chance to win. Hopefully I will come out serving as well as I have done so far."

The other semi-final will feature sixth seed Marcel Granollers against the seventh-ranked Edouard Roger-Vasselin.

Spaniard Granollers saw off Benoit Paire of France 6-2 3-6 7-6 (7/5) in two hours and 13 minutes of absorbing tennis that saw him fight back from a 5-1 deficit in the decider.

His reward is a clash with another Frenchman, Roger-Vasselin having knocked out Dudi Sela of Israel by a 7-5 6-7 (6/8) 6-0 scoreline.
