Ana Ivanovic, Sam Stosur and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova booked their spots in the semi-finals of the WTA Tournament of Champions.
The scenario in the Serdika group was straightforward, with Romanian Simona Halep guaranteed top spot and second place to be decided by the match between Pavlyuchenkova and France's Alize Cornet.
Pavlyuchenkova had won all three of the previous meetings between the pair and it was the same again on Friday, the Russian triumphing 6-2 6-2.
In Saturday's semi-finals, Pavlyuchenkova will face Stosur, and she said on wtatennis.com: "That was my goal coming here, to get out of the group.
"When I lost my first match I wasn't sure if my goal was still possible but now it has happened so I'm really happy. I'm just going to enjoy the semi-finals and try my best to go through to the final."
Things were more complicated in the Sredets group, with Ivanovic, Stosur and Elena Vesnina all in contention for the last four.
Vesnina kept alive her hopes in the first match of the day, defeating Ivanovic 6-4 3-6 7-6 (7/1) to end the Serb's perfect record, but Stosur's 6-1 6-4 win over Tsvetana Pironkova meant all three women had two wins in the group stages.
And it was Vesnina who lost out because of her inferior sets record, with Stosur topping the group while Ivanovic finished second and will meet Halep on Saturday.
