Top seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga enjoyed a straight-sets win over fellow Frenchman Edouard Roger-Vasselin as he eased into the quarter-finals of the Moselle Open in Metz.

The world No 8 fired down seven aces en route to a 6-3 6-4 victory in 69 minutes and will now face world No 80 Tobias Kamke who came from a set down to beat Marton Fucsovics 1-6 6-3 6-2.

Sixth seed Sam Querrey had a smooth progression to the quarter-finals when his opponent Paul-Henri Mathieu retired with a right leg injury.

The American had been leading 6-2 when the Frenchman retired.

In the first round, Nicolas Mahut had a 7-6 (2) 6-4 victory over Leonardo Mayer in just under two hours while Albano Olivetti beat Mischa Zverev 7-5 7-6 (3).

Fourth seed Philipp Kohlschreiber, who received a first-round-bye, will face Carlos Berlocq in his opening match after the Argentinian dismissed Jiri Vesely 6-3 6-4.
