Israel's Shakhar Peer remains on course for her sixth career title after racing past Tadeja Majeric of Slovenia 6-0 6-4 on Friday.

The former world No 11 'bageled' her opponent in the opening set before breaking her late in the second to secure a date with Polish qualifier Magda Linette in the semi-finals.

Linette advanced to her first semi on the WTA Tour when wild-card entry Ons Jabeur of Tunisia, leading 6-3 4-1, retired with an injury.

Meanwhile, seventh-seeded Elina Svitolina of Ukraine advanced to her second semi-final in as many weeks by beating second-seeded Donna Vekic of Croatia 6-2 6-3.

Svitolina, 18, lost to Andrea Hlavackova from the Czech Republic at Bad Gastein in Austria last week and the 71st-ranked player will be hoping to go one better in Azerbaijan.

She will next play fourth-seeded Alexandra Cadantu for a place in the final after the Romanian edged Galina Voskoboeva from Kazakhstan in three sets, 6-3 6-7 (3) 6-3.
