Croat teenager Donna Vekic made a convincing start to her campaign at the Baku Cup in Azerbaijan.

The 17-year-old, the youngest player in the world's top 100 and seeded second in Baku, thrashed local wild card Nazrin Jafarova 6-1 6-0 in round one.

Fourth seed Alexandra Cadantu was also victorious, the Romanian beating Michaella Krajicek 2-6 6-0 6-3, but fifth seed Karolina Pliskova lost 7-5 6-4 to Slovenia's Tadeja Majeric.

Monday's other winner was Tunisian wildcard Ons Jabeur, who saw off Daria Gavrilova of Russia 6-4 6-0.
