Second seed Annika Beck booked her place in the quarter-finals of the Nurnberger Gastein Ladies with a 2-6 6-4 6-4 win over Mandy Minella.
German Beck dropped the first set before powering back to take the victory and set up a last-eight meeting with Italy's Karin Knapp.
"It was a tough one. I was down a set and a break and I had to take a medical timeout because my nose was bleeding" Beck told the WTA's official website.
"I don't know how that happened, but it could be because of the altitude (in Bad Gastein). I hope it doesn't come back tomorrow.
"Mandy played a great match. She had good tactics. I made too many easy mistakes, but I tried to find my rhythm and eventually I did. I'm pretty happy I came out on top."
Meanwhile, Elina Svitolina defeated sixth seed Chanelle Scheepers 7-5 1-6 6-1 to earn a quarter-final clash with Patricia Mayr-Achleitner.
Austrian Mayr-Achleitner came out a 6-4 6-4 winner against Petra Martic, while compatriot Yvonne Meusburger was also victorious as she defeated third seed Irina-Camelia Begu 6-3 6-3.
Arantxa Rus came through her second-round match against Spain's Estrella Cabeza Candela 5-7 7-5 6-3 to secure a last-eight meeting with Meusburger.
