Tomas Berdych: Eased back into action after Wimbledon exploits

Tomas Berdych returned to action with a 6-3 6-0 victory over Martin Alund in the second round of the Swedish Open.

The Czech, playing for the first time since losing in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon, cruised into the last eight in Bastad where he will face Thiemo De Bakker.

The Dutchman survived two match points in his match against Viktor Troicki of Serbia before progressing 4-6 6-4 7-6.

Second seed and three-time finalist Nicolas Almagro also moved on, rallying to beat Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 3-6 6-1 6-1.

He faces another Spaniard, Fernando Verdasco in the last eight.

Verdasco, who gave Andy Murray a scare in the Wimbledon quarter-finals, eased past Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany 6-1 7-5.
