Sara Errani shrugged off her first-round Wimbledon exit to move into the quarter-finals of the XXVI Italiacom Open in Palermo.
The No 1 seed and defending champion defeated Barbora Zahlavova-Strycova 6-3 6-2 in the Sicilian capital.
Errani, who was defeated by Monica Puig at the All England club two weeks ago, lined up a last-eight meeting with seventh seed Silvia Soler-Espinosa.
Soler-Espinosa progressed after her opponent, Croatia's Mirjana Lucic-Baroni, retired when the game when she was trailing 6-2 1-0.
Germany's Dinah Pfizenmaier breezed into the quarter-finals with a comfortable 6-1 6-1 win over Spain's Anabel Medina Garrigues, while Renata Voracova saw off a strong first set from Corinna Dentoni to win 7-5 6-1 in her second-round game.
Meanwhile, third seed Kristina Mladenovic of France defeated qualifier Maria Joao Koehler 6-1 7-6 (7-5) in her first-round match.
