Spanish ace Albert Ramos caused an upset with a straight sets defeat of two-time former champion Tommy Robredo in the Skistar Swedish Open on Wednesday.

Ramos beat his compatriot 6-3 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals in Bastad, with his fourth-seed opponent failing to reach a break point in the game.

Unseeded Ramos will now face Carlos Berlocq in the last eight after the Argentine, who had seen off seventh seed Horacio Zeballos in the first round, beat Blaz Kavcic 7-5 6-3.

Fellow Argentine Juan Monaco earned a spot in the quarter-finals with a comfortable 6-4 6-2 win over Henri Laaksonen.

The third seed will next take on fifth seed Grigor Dimitrov, who rallied from a set down to beat Filippo Volandri 2-6 6-1 6-4. The Bulgarian also recovered from a set down in his first round win against Elias Ymer.
