Fernando Verdasco: Spaniard surrendered two-set lead against Andy Murray in Wimbledon quarter-final
Wimbledon quarter-finalist Fernando Verdasco got off to a steady start at the Skistar Swedish Open in Bastad with a straight-sets win over Andreas Vinciguerra.
Verdasco, who led eventual Wimbledon champion Andy Murray by two sets at one stage in last week's last-eight encounter at the All England Club, posted a 6-4 7-6 (7/3) win over the Swedish wildcard to book his place in round two.
The eighth-seeded Spaniard will next play Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff, a comfortable 6-3 6-3 winner over Roger Federer's Wimbledon conqueror Sergiy Stakhovsky.
Serbia's Viktor Troicki, the sixth seed, was a 6-4 6-2 winner over Brazil's Joao Souza, and will next play Holland's Thiemo De Bakker, who won 6-2 6-4 against Argentina's Diego Schwartzman.
There were also wins for Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, Albert Ramos, Blaz Kavic and Henri Laaksonen.
