Sixth seed Li Na raced to a 6-2 6-0 victory over Roberta Vinci to secure her place in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon.

The Chinese player bludgeoned 26 winners as she eliminated her Italian opponent in just 55 minutes on Court Three.

World No 11 Vinci did not do her ranking justice, winning just 36 per cent of the points on her serve and being thoroughly out-hit from the baseline.

Li did drop serve once, in the sixth game of the opening set, but broke her opponent a total of six times during the course of the crushing win.

Former French Open champion Li has now progressed to the last eight at Wimbledon for the third time in her career, but she did not go any further on the previous two occasions.

And she will be up against it in her quarter-final match when she takes on fourth seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland.

Last year's runner-up is the highest ranked player left in the draw but she had to battle to overcome grass-court specialist Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria 4-6 6-3 6-3.
