Czech star Tomas Berdych stepped up his preparations for Wimbledon by beating Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov at the Boodles in Stoke Park.

After losing to Marin Cilic in the quarter-finals of the AEGON Championships at Queen's last week, Berdych was pleased to record a 4-6 6-2 10-8 victory over Dolgopolov.

Berdych, the seventh seed at SW19, lost to Rafa Nadal in the 2010 Wimbledon final, and admits he is still adapting to the grass-court season.

"For me the movement on grass is the toughest thing," he said after his victory.

"It's much faster and the ball doesn't always bounce in the same place every time. It's good that we have a couple of weeks to be ready for Wimbledon."

American duo Sam Querrey and John Isner also picked up wins on day two of the Boodles, beating Richard Gasquet and Santiago Giraldo respectively.

Cilic, who was runner-up to Andy Murray at Queen's on Sunday, is in action on Thursday as is Wimbledon top seed Novak Djokovic.
