Jade Windley: Won first qualifier
Lincolnshire's Jade Windley won her first match in slam qualifying to move to within two victories of a place in the Wimbledon main draw.
The 23-year-old overcame a rankings gap of more than 200 places to beat Croatia's Tereza Mrdeza 6-4 6-4 at Roehampton.
Windley was the first of the British women on court and joined Alex Bogdanovic, Jamie Baker and David Rice, who all won on Monday, in reaching the second round.
There was also success for Naomi Broady who defeated Canadian Stephanie Dubois 6-2 7-6 (7-4).
Stockport's Broady was given wild cards for the main draw in 2011 and 2012 but has since dropped out of the top 300 and was therefore only given an entry into qualifying this time.
The 23-year-old next faces a tough match against third qualifying seed Caroline Garcia of France.
Five other British women went out in the first round - Katy Dunne, Anna Smith, Mel South, Lisa Whybourn and Emily Webley-Smith all losing in straight sets.
