Laura Robson: Won just seven points on her second serve
Heather Watson, Laura Robson and Johanna Konta were beaten in quick succession at Edgbaston to end home interest in the AEGON Classic.
Alla Kudryavtseva beat Watson in straight sets in their second-round match before British No 1 Robson suffered the same fate at the hands of Daniela Hantuchova.
And on the same day her wildcard for Wimbledon was confirmed, Konta was sent packing 6-4 6-1 by 12th seed Kristina Mladenovic.
Watson had dealt easily with Melinda Czink in her opening contest on Tuesday but was never a threat to Kudryatseva, a Russian qualifier ranked 118 places below her.
A 6-4 6-3 defeat was sealed with a double fault, and world No 37 Robson was soon following her compatriot out of the tournament.
Seventh seed Robson paid the price for winning just seven of 26 points on her second serve as she went down 6-3 6-4 to Hantuchova.
And the home support's misery was complete when Konta slumped to defeat in just 82 minutes against the same player who had knocked out British number four Tara Moore in the previous round.
Russian second seed Ekaterina Makarova was also an early casualty, going down to a 7-6 (8/6) 3-6 6-0 defeat to New Zealand's Marina Erakovic after the restart following a break for rain.
Francesca Schiavone did make it through to the third round, however, after beating Ukrainian Nadiya Kichenok 7-6 (7/4) 6-2, while Magdalena Rybarikova defeated Mathilde Johansson 7-5 6-7 (4/7) 6-4.
The last match of the night proved to be an epic encounter between Kirsten Flipkens and Ajla Tomljanovic - and it was the top-seeded Belgian who finally came out on top, recording a 4-6 6-4 7-5 triumph.
