Top seed Novak Djokovic and seven-time champion Rafael Nadal have been drawn to meet in the semi-finals of the French Open.

Roger Federer, the second seed, could potential face David Ferrer in the semi-final in the other half of the draw.

Djokovic, runner-up to Nadal last year, has never won the French Open title and he has a tricky first-round opponent in the Belgian David Goffin.

Goffin reached the last 16 in 2012 after coming through qualifying and took a set off Federer before bowing out.

Federer, chasing an 18th Grand Slam title, starts his campaign against a qualifier while Nadal begins against Germany's Daniel Brands.

Nadal, going after an unprecedented eighth French Open title, was seeded three in the absence of the injured Andy Murray.

He will start the tournament as favourite having won six titles in eight finals since making his return from injury.

One of those final defeats was against Djokovic at the Monte Carlo Masters.

"I am happy to be here at Roland Garros, it's one of the tournaments that I did not want to miss," said Nadal.

"I love this place. I am healthy to play here another time."

The possible men's quarter-finals would see Djokovic against No 8 seed Janko Tipsarevic, his Davis Cup team-mate for Serbia. Nadal would face a mouth-watering clash with the mercurial Richard Gasquet of France.

Federer is set to face another home hope in Jo-Wilfried Tsonga with Ferrer up against No 5 seed Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic.
