Lukas Rosol claimed the first ATP Tour title of his career after a comfortable 6-3 6-2 victory against Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy final.

The big-hitting Czech, who is most famous for causing one of the biggest upsets in recent Wimbledon memory by beating Rafael Nadal last year, won in just 67 minutes against his Spanish opponent.

World No 48 Rosol shocked three-time champion Gilles Simon in the last four and proved too strong for his fellow unseeded player for a landmark success at the clay-court event in Bucharest.

However, he had to recover from a nervous start after losing his serve in the opening game of the match without winning a single point.

But the 27-year-old quickly recovered his composure to hit straight back and level the scores at 1-1.

Another break in the eighth game allowed Rosol to serve out for the set in 37 minutes.

And the match was soon over as a contest as he raced into a 4-0 lead in the second set with two breaks of serve against the world No 87, before sealing a breakthrough win.
