Defending champion Juan Monaco crushed Robby Ginepri 6-1, 6-0 in the US Clay Court Championships quarter-finals in Houston, setting up a rematch of last year's final with John Isner.
In their first contest in five years, the third-seeded Monaco needed just 56 minutes to beat American Ginepri.
Monaco will face Isner in the semi-finals after last year's runner-up booked his spot with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win over Ricardas Berankis earlier in the day.
Monaco, who did not face a break point and broke Ginepri five times, said: "From the beginning, I had a good feeling. I was serving well.
"Every game I got more confident. I played very well. Maybe Robby didn't have a good day. I have great memories on this court."
The Argentine said he hopes to carry the momentum from Friday's win to his semi-final clash with fifth-seeded Isner.
"John is a great player. I'll have to play like today or even better tomorrow if I want to beat him. I have to be focused. When I get the opportunity, I can't miss it."
The other semi-final will see top seed Nicolas Almagro battle 144th-ranked Rhyne Williams.
Almagro who has won all 12 of his ATP Tour titles on clay, beat seventh-seeded Paolo Lorenzi 6-4, 6-4, while American wild card Williams reached his first ever semi-final by outlasting Spain's Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo 7-6 (7/1), 1-6, 6-4.
