Sixth seed Tomas Berdych progressed to the semi-finals BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells after recording a 6-4 6-4 victory over Kevin Anderson.
Berdych, who is yet to drop a set in the tournament, broke Anderson in the final game of both sets to seal the win in an hour and 30 minutes.
The 27-year-old Czech now faces a last-four clash with Rafael Nadal, who toppled Roger Federer later on Thursday night.
"It feels great. I have been able to focus on my game, and especially today because Kevin has been playing great," Berdych said.
He added: "I am happy to go through, and the fact that I haven't lost a set is just a nice bonus. It's the first one (ATP Masters 1000 event) of the year and I've already started this year quite well."
