Venus Williams is through to the semi-finals of the Brazil Tennis Cup after a convincing win over Magdalena Rybarikova.

The Slovakian had threatened early on but in the end top seed Williams was too strong as the American recorded a 6-4 6-0 win.

Williams will now face Olga Puchkova after the Russian powered to a 6-1 6-1 over another Slovakian, Jana Cepelova.

Seventh seed Kristina Mladenovic and Monica Niculescu will face off in the other semi-final.

Mladenovic saw off Melinda Czink 6-4 6-3, while Niculescu was a 6-3 6-2 winner over Timea Babos.
