Second seed Maria Kirilenko made short work of Sorana Cirstea to progress through to the final of the Pattaya Open, where she will face Sabine Lisicki.

Kirilenko needed just over an hour to brush aside her Romanian opponent 6-0 6-2 as the world number 15 moved a step closer to claiming her first title of the season.

Kirelinko also beat Cirstea in last year's semi-finals before losing to Daniela Hantuchova in the final.

Fifth seed Lisicki defeated Kirilenko's compatriot Nina Bratchikova 7-5 6-3.

German Lisicki was playing in her first semi-final since 2011 after being hit by injuries last year, while Bratchikova was making her maiden appearance at this stage of a WTA tournament.

Lisicki said: "It was a little bit up and down in the beginning. I thought I couldn't serve too well and didn't have any ryhthm.

"I think I managed it in the second set, to get my rhythm back, and get my big first serve again.

"A couple of times when I had break points she served well and I missed some shots, but overall I'm happy with the match."
