David Ferrer: Blew away Gael Monfils in straight sets

Top seed David Ferrer is on target to claim a fourth Heineken Open title after reaching the final in emphatic style.

Ferrer blew away the challenge of Gael Monfils in straight sets to secure a showdown with Philipp Kohlschreiber.

Monfils had accounted for third seed Tommy Haas in the quarter-final but the Frenchman was no match for Ferrer, who romped to a 6-1 6-2 victory.

Second-seeded Kohlschreiber negated the big-serving Sam Querrey to book his place in the final.

Kohlschreiber, who won the Auckland title in 2008, saw off the fourth seed 6-4 7-6 (7-2).
