Li Na overcame a third set meltdown to beat Klara Zakopalova 6-3 1-6 7-5 in the final of the inaugural Shenzhen Open on Saturday.

The top seed had been cruising to success when leading 5-2 in the deciding set only for fifth seed Zakopalova to draw level at 5-5 and cast a seventh career title for Na in doubt.

However, the 2011 French Open winner collected herself to put together two solid games and give her a boost ahead of the Australian Open, which begins on January 14.

World number seven Na lost the 2011 Melbourne final to Kim Clijsters and also suffered to the Belgian last year after being eliminated in the fourth round of the tournament.

Saturday's triumph was Li's second WTA title in China, following her breakthrough at Guangzhou in 2004 when she became the first Chinese winner on the women's tour.

"It is not happening overnight if you want to change some long time habit and I have to adjust myself slowly," said Na. "Honestly, I am very happy to win the title here because this is not an easy match at all."
