Heather Watson: Elbow injury

Heather Watson has been forced to withdraw from next week's Hobart International because of an elbow injury.

Watson incurred the problem in her 4-6 6-3 3-6 defeat to Kiki Bertens at the ASB Classic in Auckland.

The 20-year-old played doubles in Auckland after her singles defeat but has decided she is unable to compete in Hobart.

That leaves Watson doubtful for the season-opening Grand Slam the Australian Open, which gets underway on 14 January.

"I injured my elbow yesterday in my singles match, unfortunately I have to withdraw from Hobart ... doing everything I can to get healthy," she tweeted.
