Novak Djokovic: Low-key start to 2013 campaign
Novak Djokovic will not play in any ATP tournaments before he defends his Australian Open title in Melbourne in January next year.
The world No 1 will compete in the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi - an exhibition event which he won last year - alongside Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, David Ferrer, Tomas Berdych and Janko Tipsarevic, between Christmas and New Year.
He will then fly to Perth, Western Australia, for the Hopman Cup where he will team up with fellow Serb Ana Ivanovic before the Australian Open - the first Grand Slam of the year - which begins in Melbourne on January 14.
He has turned down the opportunity to play in ATP events in Qatar and Sydney - which most of the top players normally attend - ahead of Melbourne.
