David Ferrer said victory in his first Masters event was the 'ultimate' reward for his best season on tour.

The Spaniard's 6-4 6-3 triumph over Jerzy Janowicz in the final of the Paris Masters gave him a season-leading seventh title of the year.

The world No 5 had fallen short on three previous occasions in Masters Series finals and was glad to finally overcome that hurdle.

"It is a dream realised to win a Masters event," said Ferrer. "There was Rome, Monte-Carlo and Shanghai. This time it is a happy ending and the ultimate reward of the best season of my career."

Janowicz had a remarkable run to the final after qualifying for the main draw, but admitted tiredness played a part in the final.

"This was his fifth match; this was my eighth match," said the world No 69. "I was really tired. I was actually exhausted almost.

"I'm only human, and I'm still happy about this final. David played today really good tennis. It was good enough to beat me today. He's a really experienced guy, he didn't get nervous.

"I've got a lot of confidence right now. I learned if you have big heart and you want to do something amazing and you're going to fight for this, you have a big chance to make it."
