Top-seed Victoria Azarenka wasted little time reaching the quarter-finals of the WTA Generali Ladies following a 6-1 6-1 demolition of Simona Halep in Linz.
The Belarussian world No.1 dominated play from the baseline, firing down 20 winners to set up a last eight showdown with Petra Martic, who defeated Patricia Mayr-Achleitner 6-2 3-6 6-0.
"My game was more fluent than in the first round," Azarenka said. "My timing was better and I was less nervous. But I have to improve my serving as I had a couple of double faults."
Ana Ivanovic, who triumphed in the event in 2008 and then again in 2010, also progressed with a 6-4 6-3 triumph over Andrea Petkovic of Germany.
Next up for the second-seeded Serbian will be Kirsten Flipkens after the Belgian rallied to see off the challenge of Mallory Burdette of the United States by a 4-6 6-1 7-5 scoreline.
Meanwhile, American Bethanie Mattek-Sands reached her first quarter-final of the season by defeating Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain 6-3 6-3.
The world number 201, who is battling her way back up the rankings after recent hip, back and left foot injuries, will face Romania's Irina-Camelia Begu for a place in the semi-finals.
Begu, who lost in qualifying but replaced Anna Tatishvili in the main draw, beat Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands 6-4 7-6 (9/7).
