Laura Robson: Lost in straight sets to Marion Bartoli
British teenager Laura Robson suffered a first-round loss to Marion Bartoli at the New Haven Open.
The 18-year-old eventually went down 6-3 6-3 to the fifth-seeded Frenchwoman.
Eighth seed Lucie Safarova is also through to the second round after Varvara Lepchenko retired injured while trailing 6-3 4-1.
Rising American star Sloane Stephens brushed aside Tamira Paszek 6-3 6-1, while Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro was pushed hard before overcoming Agnes Szavay 7-6 (7/3) 6-4.
