Annika Beck secured the first WTA Tour title of her career with a 6-2 6-1 win against Barbora Zahlavova Strycova in the final of the Luxembourg Open.

The 20-year-old German needed just an hour and 33 minutes to wrap up a convincing victory against her Czech opponent.

Beck broke her higher-ranked foe four times in the first set to seize the initiative, despite being broken twice herself.

But in the second set she saved all five break points against her and punished her opponent's poor serving as she closed out to take the title.

"I just tried to stay focused on myself and kept fighting, because Barbora was fighting all the time," Beck told the WTA Tour’s official website.

"She's a really good player with an aggressive game - she likes coming to the net a lot, so I had to watch out for that throughout the match. But I got a good start and managed to keep going.

"It was a close final with a lot of close games, and I'm happy it turned out for me."
