World No 1 Serena Williams has topped the WTA rankings for 210th week in her career to surpass Martina Hingis.
The 18-time grand slam winner is now fourth on the all-time list of weeks spent at No 1 with Steffi Graf leading the way on 377.
Williams has continued to dominate the rankings despite being sidelined with an injury to her left knee.
The 33-year-old American was forced to abandon her defence of the China Open earlier this month due to the injury, with second-ranking Maria Sharapova going on to win the tournament.
But she is still nearly 2,000 points clear of the Russian and will head into the season-ending WTA Finals in Singapore as favourite to land a hat-trick of titles and fifth overall.
