Alize Cornet will face Monica Niculescu in the final of the Guangzhou International Women's Open after both came through their last four clashes in China.
Second seed Cornet defeated Timea Bacsinszky 6-1 7-6 (7-5) after Niculsecu had defeated Wang Yafan 6-0 6-2.
On a day when Li Na - China’s most successful tennis player - announced her retirement, home hope Wang could not make it through to her first WTA Tour final.
It took Niculescu just an hour and 12 minutes to book her spot in the final, Wang serving five double faults and being broken on a total of six occasions.
Cornet was forced to work harder for her win against Bacsinszky but eventually came through in two hours exactly.
Every other seed was eliminated in the first round of the tournament but Cornet has avoided any slip ups on her way to the final.
