Second seed Alize Cornet reached the semi-finals of the Guangzhou International Women's Open after a 7-6 (7-5) 6-1 win over Hsieh Su-Wei.
Every other seed at the Chinese tournament crashed out in the first round but Cornet has made it through to the last four unscathed.
The Frenchwoman took an hour and 52 minutes to see off Hsieh, who recorded three breaks but dropped her own serve on six occasions.
In the top half of the draw, wildcard entrant Wang Yafan made it through to the semi-finals after a 3-6 6-2 6-2 victory over fellow home hope Xhang Kailin.
Wang has mainly campaigned on the ITF Tour during her career so far but the 20-year-old, ranked 251 in the world, will now face Monica Niculescu for the chance to reach her first WTA final.
Niculescu made it through to the last four after a straightforward 6-2 6-2 victory against Monica Puig.
