Elina Svitolina and Bojana Jovanovski will meet in the Baku Cup final on Sunday after battling through tight three-setters in the semi-finals.

Ukrainian second seed and defending champion Svitolina, 19, who dropped a set for the first time this week, converted five out of six break points and saved eight out of 11 on her own serve to beat Italy's Francesca Schiavone 3-6 6-1 6-4.

The third set was a see-saw affair, with Svitolina getting out to a 3-0 lead, Schiavone winning four straight games to go 4-3 in front and Svitolina winning three straight to close out her triumph.

Svitolina will be seeking her second trophy in a week having already lifted the women's doubles title at the Istanbul Cup with partner Misaki Doi from Japan.

Jovanovski, the 22-year-old fifth seed from Serbia, also needed three sets - for the third time this week - as she came from 4-1 down in the third set to complete a 6-2 2-6 6-4 win over Stefanie Voegele.

Switzerland's Voegele came into the match on a high having dumped top seed Sorana Cirstea out of the competition earlier in the week.
