Defending champion Mikhail Youzhny was sent crashing out of the Credit Agricole Suisse Open after being beaten 3-6 6-1 6-4 by Robin Haase.

In a repeat of last year's final, Dutchman Haase came from behind to get past his top-seeded Russian opponent in Gstaad. In the semi-finals he will face Juan Monaco, who defeated Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil 7-6 (7-1) 6-1.

"I beat him this year so I knew I could do it. Once I went a break down in the first set, I started playing better," Haase said.

"In the second, my ball was 20 kph faster and a metre deeper. I was feeling good and serving better. In the third I couldn't do anything wrong until 5-2.

"I felt confident about the match but then I made some mistakes and got nervous. At 5-4, 4-0 you think it's done but then I had a double-fault. I got nervous but I closed it out in the end."

The other final-four contest pits fourth seed Fernando Verdasco against fellow Spaniard Pablo Andujar. Verdasco played twice on Friday, booking his semi-final place by overcoming Viktor Troicki 6-4 6-7 (7-9) 6-1.

Serbian wild card Troicki was playing in his first tournament since his doping ban expired and could not extend his run to the last four.
