Fifth seed Feliciano Lopez was made to battle past wild-card Michael Lammer at the Swiss Open in Gstaad.

Lopez eventually triumphed 6-4 6-7 (4-6) 6-3 but not before a battle that lasted two hours 23 minutes as Lammer fought hard.

Eighth seed Marcel Granollers found things significantly easier against another Swiss wildcard, dispatching Stephane Bohli 6-1 6-0 in an hour.

However, one seed did fall as Colombian Santiago Giraldo came from behind to knock out Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 5-7 6-2 6-1.

Jarkko Nieminen topped Victor Hanescu 7-5 6-2 while Daniel Gimeno-Traver battled his way past Steve Darcis 6-4 5-7 7-5.

There was also victory for Frederico Gil over Joao Souza, 4-6 6-3 6-4, and Julien Benneteau over Lukas Rosol, 6-2 6-7 (6-8) 6-3.
