Fourth seed Jelena Jankovic sailed into the second round of the Porsche Grand Prix in Stuttgart on Wednesday with a 6-2 6-2 win over Argentinian Gisela Dulko.

"I played a good first set but had a few ups and downs in the second."
Jelena Jankovic Quotes of the week

Serbian Jankovic, a former world number one, won the German tournament in 2008 and is seeking her second WTA title of the season after raising the trophy at Indian Wells.

"It was good for the first match," said Jankovic. "Dulko is tough to play on clay. I played a good first set but had a few ups and downs in the second."

In other first round action, seventh-seeded Samantha Stosur of Australia powered past Frenchwoman Marion Bartoli 6-2 6-1 to remain undefeated in seven matches on clay this year.

Sixth-seeded Victoria Azarenka of Belarus overcame Italian Flavia Pennetta 6-1 6-4, while Yanina Wickmayer, the eighth-seeded Belgian, also advanced after seeing off Francesca Schiavone of Italy 6-3 6-3.

Shock

In the second round, seeded pair Svetlana Kuznetsova and Agnieszka Radwanska were shock casualties.

Third-seed Kuznetsova perished 6-3 7-5 at the hands of China's Na Li, while fifth-seeded Pole Radwanska went down 6-3 6-7 (4-7) 6-2 at the hands of Israeli Shahar Peer.

Peer, ranked 20th in the world, wasted a match point before the second set tiebreak but stormed through the decider to close out her win.

"It was tough to come back," said Peer. "I had a match point. But I am happy that I came back."

Belgian Justine Henin progressed with a 7-6 (7-3) 6-1 victory over fellow wildcard Julia Goerges.
