Roger Federer is back on the French Open court on Friday, a day after his biggest rivals for the trophy were all winners.

Federer will take on Damir Dzumhur in the third round having watched victories for Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic on Thursday.

The initial French Open draw was perceived to have favoured Federer, who was selected in the opposite half to the other three favourites to lift the Roland Garros trophy. For now, that perception could be justified as Murray will have to play exciting up-and-comer Nick Kyrgios in the third-round while Federer is matched against Dzumhur.

For his part, Dzumhur is a 23-year-old from Bosnia who is currently ranked as the world No 88. He toppled Marcos Baghdatis to earn his spot opposite his all-time idol on Friday.

Elsewhere, the home country will be treated to a triple helping of their top players with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gael Monfils and Gilles Simon in action.

Tsonga, the 14th seed, will face Pablo Andujar of Spain while Monfils, the 13th seed, takes on Pablo Cuevas. Twelfth seed Simon is matched against unranked compatriot Nicolas Mahut.

Fourth seed Tomas Berdych is playing another unranked home player, Benoit Paire and Stan Wawrinka, the eighth seed and a former Grand Slam champion, takes on Steve Johnson from the United States.

More from French Open 2015

Maria Sharapova, the reigning French Open ladies champion, continues her defence against Samantha Stosur – the Roland Garros title holder was heckled last time out after refusing an on-court interview so will want to put on a show.

Ana Ivanovic and Carla Suarez-Navarro, the top-10 ranked duo, play Donna Vekic and Flavia Pennetta, respectively.
