The most recognisable footballer on the planet has finally called time on his glittering career.
After two decades at the top, stints at Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, Milan and Paris Saint Germain, and not to mention 115 England caps, David Beckham has decided to call it a day.
Here the 38-year-old opens up to former England and Manchester United team-mate Gary Neville about why he felt the time was right to bring the curtain down on his playing days.
Beckham admits it was a hugely difficult decision and there was still part of him wanting to play on, but ultimately felt the "right time" had arrived to hang up his boots.
