Birmingham Brummies have confirmed Martin Smolinski as the final member of their side for 2013.
The German returns to Perry Barr for a second successive campaign and he will be starting the new season at reserve.
Joint Brummies owner Alan Phillips said: "I fully expect to see Martin in the main body of the team at some stage this year, he was disappointed to be at reserve.
"He knows what he has to do to improve and I really do feel he will hit the ground running.
"I was of the opinion that the views of the supporters needed to be taken into account and that's one of the main reasons why we went with Martin.
"There were other riders who were in the frame for the final team place, but we fully respect the feedback we get from our supporters and that's why Martin is back.
"He's so popular with the supporters because he is such a great character. He always engages with them, never turns an autograph away and on his day he is a fine rider."
Smolinski added: "Birmingham is a good track and the fans are great so I was disappointed I didn't do better for them.
"But it was a tough year being back in England after being away for so long and I'm pleased to be back again.
"It was a frustrating season and hopefully things will be a lot better this year."
