Robins beat Brummies in semis

Swindon Robins booked their place in the Elite League grand final as they cruised to a 55-37 victory over Birmingham Brummies in the second leg of their semi-final.

It meant Alan Rossiter's men completed a 110-72 aggregate triumph and will now face Poole Pirates in the final.

Having secured a 20-point advantage after a 55-35 success at Perry Bar in the first leg, the Robins were always huge favourites to progress and they did so with the minimum of fuss.

Hans Andersen set the tone for the hosts as he led home Nick Morris to seal a 5-1 in heat one and two more maximums followed in the opening four races as Swindon powered into an early 18-6 lead.

Finally on the board

Danny King finally got Birmingham on the board in heat five as he held off Peter Kildemand to score a 4-2 and Birmingham reduced the arrears to 25-17 as they won the next two heats courtesy of Seb Ulamek and Ben Barker.

But that was as good as things got for the Brummies as Simon Stead - who claimed four wins from his four rides - starred for the Robins.

Even the visitors' decision to send King out on double points in heat 11 backfired as he finished behind Dawid Lampart and Troy Batchelor to claim just a single point.

Ulamek did pick up his third win of the night in the final heat, but it was far too little too late by that stage with Swindon long since having secured their final spot.
