Freddie Lindgren: On form for the Wolves
Wolverhampton extended their lead at the top of the Elite League back to five points with a 55-38 win over Eastbourne at Monmore Green.
Skipper Freddie Lindgren led the way for the home side with 14 points, beaten only by Bjarne Pedersen in Heat 1, and the Dane was also the only rider to get the better of home guest Chris Harris.
Wolves boss Peter Adams said: "We expected a bit of backlash from Eastbourne after they were thrashed at home against rivals Poole on Friday.
"In the early stages that looked to be the case, but we gradually got on top of them and won quite comfortably in the end. It was another strong performance where everyone played their part."
Poole gained ground on the play-off places with a 50-40 win over Belle Vue, their second four-point haul in succession.
Josh Grajczonek proved an inspired choice of guest for the Pirates with 12 points in support of skipper Chris Holder (14+1) - and promoter Matt Ford believes their season is now very much alive.
Ford said: "It's been a profitable four days for us and with a maximum eight-point return it has certainly put us on the brink of a comeback.
"There is still a lot to do and it is a big ask to get us up into the play-off zone, but we moved up another place tonight, and if we keep believing that there is a chance then we will give ourselves that chance."
