Swindon Robins chief Alun Rossiter admits he was delighted to finally shake off their tag of the Elite League's nearly men.
The Robins banished 45 years of hurt by finally securing the top-flight title.
Rossiter admits that the whole of Swindon was swept along by the Robins' success last year.
"It was fantastic to finally do it," he told Sky Sports' Elite League season preview.
"Anyone and everyone kept niggling at us - 45 years, 45 years, you're not going to get that monkey off your back - it means a lot and a lot to the people of Swindon."
Rossiter has had to re-work his side in the winter, which saw him having to release club stalwart Simon Stead.
"He had been here five years and felt he had stagnated a bit, but the door is not closed," he said.
"We are fortunate to have four out of the seven back so we have a fair bit of continuity - I am confident with the team we have this year, they say we are a little vulnerable down the bottom, but I think they will rise to the occasion."
