Belle Vue Aces have lost their captain Rory Schlein for at least a month after he broke his foot on Monday.

The Aces, who have had horrendous luck with injuries this season, saw their number one go down in the opening race of their match with Birmingham Brummies.

He missed the rest of the meeting which allowed Birmingham to claim a win and now it has been confirmed that he broke a metatarsal in his left foot.

Team manager Jim Lynch said: "Our run of bad luck just gets longer. We feared that Rory had broken his ankle because the injury looked bad and he was in a lot of pain."

Schlein has Tweeted suggesting the injury could be worse than expected.

"Seen the foot surgern not the news I was hoping for need more scans and may need an op now will keep you updated."
