Timo Lahti has been drafted into the Eastbourne Eagles team as a temporary replacement for the injured Kim Nilsson.
The Finnish rider will be at the club's official practice on Saturday and will then line up against Birmingham in the first home match of the new Elite League season on March 29.
After riding for Eastbourne from 2011-13, Lahti was originally left out of the team for 2014 but was immediately placed on stand-by once Nilsson's injury became known.
"We have received approval from the sport's management committee to reintroduce Timo to our team as a temporary replacement for the injured Kim," said club co-promoter Mike Bellerby.
He added it was hoped Nilsson, who suffered a fractured vertebra in his neck and back in pre-season training in the USA, will be back racing early in May.
Saturday's practice will see the team to go through their paces and co-promoter and team manager, Trevor Geer, talking to the riders about the team's riding order for league matches and the positions they will occupy.
"It is our first opportunity to be all together this year. We will talk things through before I make the final decision," said Geer, who also warned supporters not to read anything into the numbers riders wear at the practice.
"These are being used to help our guests from the media with identification and that's all," he added.
There is no charge for supporters to attend the practice. Admission will be from 12.30pm and the practice is likely to be over by 2.30pm to allow for preparations to be made for Saturday evening's Joonas Kylmakorpi Testimonial meeting (7.30pm).
