Birmingham Brummies have signed Great Britain international Edward Kennett for the 2014 season.

Kennett spent last season with Swindon but he has moved to Perry Barr - which he says is one of his favourite tracks - to get more race time.

Kennett - who will double up with Rye House in the Premier League - is hoping to help his new team reach the Elite League play-offs for a third successive season.

He said: "Birmingham did really well last year finishing top of the league, and it would be nice if we can have another good season this year as well.

"We've got all British riders so far which is good to see and most of us know each other pretty well anyway which should help in the early parts of the season.

"As a team we'll just be trying to make a good start, hit the ground running and hopefully we'll be able to make the top four to get to the play-offs."

Birmingham co-promoter Graham Drury said he is delighted to complete the signing of Kennett.

"I'd like to welcome Edward to Birmingham and hope he has a fine season for us," he said. "He has a lot of Elite League experience under his belt and with his busier fixture schedule I'm sure he will be a lot sharper."
