Selby: New favourite after Trump exit

Sky Bet

Mark Selby is the new favourite for the World Snooker Shoot-out after pre-tournament favourite Judd Trump was dumped out in the first round by World Champion John Higgins.

In a day of no real shock outsiders winning the betting is dominated those that won their first round matches with Selby, Higgins, Williams and Allen sitting at the top of the market.

Sky Bet's Head of Snooker Trading Andy Thorp is hoping for a day two full of upsets after the profit margin took a hit on day one.

"I still can't believe we didn't manage to get one strong favourite beaten with a format that threw up any number of shocks last year."

Neil Robertson, Shaun Murphy and Ding Junhui will all be hoping the trend continues.

Junhui is one of four Chinese players playing and Sky Bet quote 14/1 that all four of Junhui, Wenbo, Chuang and Guodong win their opening round matches. They also go 9/2 that the World Championship winning trio of Robertson, Murphy and Hendry all win their games.

Saturday sees the conclusion of round one and all of round 2 and Sky Bet will be offering live betting and outright markets all day with match betting on all games as well as sub markets such as first and last colour potted, first red potted, pocket of first red and race to 30 points.
