Judd Trump continued to charge through the German Masters at breakneck speed on Friday as he reached the semi-finals having dropped just three frames.

Having beaten Noppon Saengkham 5-1 and Mark King 5-0 on Thursday, the Bristolian came through the stand-out tie of the third round against Shaun Murphy and followed up with a whitewash of Michael Holt.

A 96 in frame six was the highlight of his 5-2 win against Murphy and he was consistent with breaks of 61, 69 and two 72s against Holt.

Nottingham-based Holt had earlier set a new mark for the tournament high break prize with a 143 in his 5-2 last-16 win over Alan McManus.

Ding Junhui was at his fluent best in a 5-2 win over Joe Perry to set up a semi-final with Ryan Day.

A break of 107 in the first frame set the tone for Ding, who added 81 and 92 to lead 3-1 at the interval.

Closed out

Perry took the first frame back with 91 but Ding closed the match out with 52 and 70.

Ding earlier came from 3-1 down to beat Snooker Shoot-out champion Dominic Dale 5-3, helped by breaks of 81 and 85, while Perry's 5-1 win over Kurt Maflin ended in unusual fashion.

The Norwegian, who beat Mark Selby in the last 32 on Thursday, missed the reds three times in succession when not snookered to lose frame six - without a ball potted - and the match.

Day beat Xiao Guodong 5-2 with three half-centuries, though the Chinese player made the bigger breaks with 88 and 71 in the frames he won.

Xiao also knocked in two centuries, 130 and 114, in his 5-1 third-round win over Jamie Burnett, with Day settling for four breaks between 50 and 65 in a 5-3 success against Anthony Hamilton.
