Ronnie O'Sullivan has changed his mind about competing at next month's Masters event in London by saying he will now take his place in one of snooker's most prestigious competitions.

The reigning world champion originally said he was thinking about giving the event at Alexandra Palace a miss before making a u-turn and deciding to play.

The 38-year-old from Essex was knocked out of the UK Championship in York on Thursday, losing to Stuart Bingham at the quarter-final stage.

First of all he tweeted that he was "unsure" of playing in the Masters saying he needed to "get out of snooker halls and hotel rooms and breathe fresh air."

However, he later retreated his position by sending another tweet which read: "entered and done - let me entertain u ally pally."

The tournament starts on January 12.
