Two-time world finalist Ali Carter has undergone surgery after he was diagnosed with testicular cancer.
The 33-year-old said the operation on Tuesday had gone well and he had been advised to rest for a month.
Carter wrote on Twitter: "Hi everyone. Surgery went well, am feeling very sore and been told to take it easy 4 a month. Thanks everyone u have been a massive strength."
The cancer diagnosis represents another health setback for Carter, who was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 2003 and has had a well-documented struggle with the illness.
Carter is currently ranked 15th in the world, but it remains to be seen when he will next compete.
